Girl, procrastination has to be the silent killer of creative people. Seriously I have dealt with this issue so much in my professional life, and it happen ((past and present) in my entrepreneur life as well. Here’s how I’ve been kicking ass, my goals and wanted to share some ideas. I’m also sharing an article that I read on the matter. CLICK HERE TO READ IT.

So if you read the blog yesterday, I talked about how what you think, becomes what you do, and then what you do will manifest in your life. Well I didn’t say it as eloquent yesterday, but you get the idea.

I was preaching. Get into it!

Having a discussing with my co-host Jaye Skye, about why can’t more people come together to build a business, and why do we get stuck in just in the role of entrepreneur and never business owner. It hit me why I have procrastinated in so much of what I’ve done.

Now this is my two cents, and most importantly this was my revelations.

I believe when you start a business the most important piece is where are you going (mission statement) . When working with clients and their vision, I always ask: “Do you want to hire people who love what they do and can push the business into an amazing company or platform.?” Or just for yourself wanting to leave a 9-5, more freedom, kids, more money etc.

Right now on social media the turn “entrepreneur” is used so much, I think we forget why we are starting a business. Now everyone has different goals, (but again this is for the people who really want to grow a business) Let’s think Apple, Google, Target… you get my drift?

Ok, so…

Back to the story

Having that conversation, I stated when you decide you want that type of business, the thought of hiring someone,  paying  people an salary, which is connected to their lifestyle and family is a huge responsibility.

Now for some  people, the idea  would completely  break  them down, but for me it gave me a whole new mindset. I started to really evaluate my business and ask. Where am  I going ? Are my actions getting me closer, or am I only worried about myself in business? My likes, my clients etc. Meaning if I have a goal of growing a business to work with a dope team of people who again, LOVE what they do. Am I making this dream possible? Am I going all the daily work, to drive that train up the mountain. IDK where that reference came from, but let’s go with it.

So this morning, seeing a email with  a Procrastination article from Medium. I knew it was a connection, and a great blog article to write on.

Now I can say this last night after this conversation, I started to think about my time, creativity and money goals completely different.

I noticed that yesterday when I did a blog post, how I only focused on that one goal , at that time. I set a time block to knock it out. From start to finish, writing to finding images, to posting. Time block.

So I did it again. I wrote at all the things that I needed to get done, afterwards I wrote how long I believed all the task would take me. 10 hours. I need a straight 10 hours to finish everything on my list.

From there I looked at my day and plugged in task that I could finish, in the middle of having a newborn, lunch, cleaning the house, client phone calls, having a social life etc.

From there I plugged in 6 hours (of my to do list) and had 4 hours left. That 4 our project was my radio website. That was mostly uploading podcast, editing the front page website layout etc. I could do that from 9-1am.

Aye.

I would have completed everything. Plus, having 4 hours to knock out one major goal, vs. stopping and starting in the middle of the day and getting burnt out.

I’ve  also noticed how much more I’m knocking out, I mentally feel more accomplished, my goals seem more doable and clear. Plus, sis is getting her naps and NETFLIX in. Okkur!

Listen again, you have to do what’s best for you in your business and lifestyle. Just sharing what’s currently working for me and my schedule.

But as always I have questions! How are you balancing your business? What type of business model are you building? Do you want to hire a team, or just outsource work to help you grow your personal brand?

You know I love to talk so let me know. I also took a picture of my schedule for you to see. : Judge Ya Mama… LOL
