Hey Gorgeous !

As always it feels like it’s been forever !

Well in today’s multimedia blog post ; it’s  a mix of Mindset Makeover Monday and Sole Out Sunday.

On Sundays I normally listen to a live sermon, digital series, or attend church online, and make a podcast on how it inspired me to keep pushing, and staying motivated in the pursuit of my calling, career and purpose.

Between yesterday and today, I have been listening to the TD Jakes’s sermon ( Youtube link listed below) The Riddle – Bishop T.D. Jakes .  At first glance I didn’t know where he was going with the sermon as he started to describe the life of Samuel.

From dealing with toxic relationships, maintaining a healthy relationship by accepting people as they are,  dealing with expectations that people place on you , and overall “The Riddles” of life.  This sermon really helped me focused on

  • Really being proud of the journey
  • It’s necessary to let go of  ( toxic, fixed, and non growing ) relationships  because  they can hurt your behavior , growth and future.
  • Everyone ( including you) will not always understand the story of your life, how you win,  using what you have to win, and victory can be found in unusual places.

Between listening to this , and randomly listening to another youtube  from “School Of Life” video on “Finding Fulfilling Work” ( Check it out here How to Find Fulfilling Work),  all led up to today’s blog ( Own Your Story)  and  November’s theme  about treating your personal brand like a Holiday .

Mindset Makeover

As discussed in last week’s blog post  (Check it out here) looking at your personal brand as a Holiday . It focuses more  on what you do for others as the leader and creator of your brand.  The sermon and the life school video (after you watch it)  have a couple   things in common :

  • They both focus on the story, and the changes ( you face as a leader and personal brand) /
  • as well as the  problems of the society (people, communities , groups) you want to help.
  • Growth of yourself and culture as jobs, how we view each other and ourselves in the pursuit of our story or purpose.

So now let’s look at you.

Hero:

Most public figures that have a national holiday dedicated to them, or  “name  days”

( that are held in the remembrance of a public figure ). Have died, suffered,  been a voice for the oppressed, or under represented.

From feeling a calling , spiritual urge, or compelled , these leaders stood for these people  in a time where it wasn’t popular , socially accepted , or even casted  out by their family, or communities .

With the rise of social media and the change of society , we have also seen new leaders shape industries, countries and be a voice for new communities forming in society .  As the leader of you and your personal brand ,  you have a ” Why ” for ” why” you feel called to lead, or stand up and speak out or be of service to your audience.

While we ALL  have a view on being perfect before you start or  being a perfect person while you’re leading .  You also  have a story for why you are doing what you are doing, your faults, your bad stuff,  and the worst parts of your life can be used to inspire your audience.

Many  authors,  inspirational speakers, and coaches all describe a time of using those negative moments as the thing that helped them stand out , and be the reason your audience trusts you to lead them .  Dr Martin Luther King Jr was an amazing man and leader. We remember him not only for who he is, but for the change he stood for, leading the Civil Rights for this country , and how many people he educated in racism and social justice. Years later we are still feeling the effects  of his mission as our hero not only in the Black Community but  as an international figure for any group of people who have been oppressed . Not only did he find fulfilling work, but he became a hero leaving a legacy by  changing what was negatively impacting his community.

In the sermon with Bishop TD Jakes , here’s some questions that can get you looking at YOU differently .

  1. What makes you mad ?
  2. Where is your weakness?
  3. What makes you strong?

All your answers to these questions are key identifiers on what triggers you to move, how to guard and protect yourself as well as knowing how to shift in unexpected situations.

Story ( History, Beliefs, Community) :

Why do you do what you do ?

Superman was a super impactful hero, but what was more inspiring to me was the story of why his family sent him to Earth , and who he was supposed to protect.

From his S logo on his chest ( which stood for hope and the symbol of his country ) his whole mission was to create peace for this beautiful planet he was now on .

In the movie ( Superman , you can watch it on HBO Max) , he searched for the answer of who he was , but it wasn’t until he found the  Hologram of his dad explaining to him his story that he was able to step into his power .

Even holidays like Christmas, never feel like Christmas until the tree is up, the presents wrapped , and we hear Marah Carey on the radio.

Like Superman , the story , the logo, the cap , and the theme song all connect to what he stood for.

As much as we loved the figure Superman , it was really how he made us feel when he showed up to save the day . Like Christmas , like MLK Day , these holidays are celebrated because of the person but more of what the person stood for.

What does your personal brand represent?

What colors would everyone be wearing, what do you want them to do on this day? What happens when everything is  executed correctly? What does the world look like afterwards?

Again, we know what the Christmas holiday entailed, but until the turkey is on the table, and everyone is smiling around Mac and cheese, with the baby angel smiling on top of the tree… it doesn’t ” Feel ” like it until we see it.

Remember as the leader in your personal brand , everyday  you have to describe what needs to be done to achieve this goal . Everyday your mission is to bring awareness about this holiday , how to join, participate, and how / who you need to partner up  with to help you  achieve this .

SO what would your company holiday look like ? What’s the story? The Experience? With Black Friday around the corner, and your brand is everyday….

What ways can you inspire, motivate, and think of what’s best for your clients, audience, consumers and yourself ?

Listen gorgeous, I hope you loved this blog post as much as I loved writing and watching these videos that helped me review my own purpose and mission .

Be sure to check out the live podcast later today where I go more into details and tell you some of my answers for the questions and discuss other public figures and how to stay motivated in a world full of distractions!!

See you soon, beautiful!
