Hey boo hey
Happy Mindset Makeover Monday !!
You know Mondays are all about looking at yourself and your personal brand from a different perspective.
This episode ” Sound Off” is about owning your messaging, your voice and your digital space .
Last week when I did a live podcast I noticed how I was rushing my show . While I’m all about watching time , I noticed I was so rushed I didn’t hit the points I wanted to make.
I believe we do this because we believe that people aren’t listening to us . We start to think that our voice doesn’t matter. So we stop talking and saying what needs to be said.
No matter how uncomfortable the topic is , we need to have it . How can we expect to change ourselves, our communities, and our families if we don’t talk about it?Social media has also forced us to believe that people don’t watch content or read anymore. How does that make sense? When the digital industry and social media platforms are growing daily !
We think people won’t notice us .
Nope .
Sis..
If they are following you, and watching they are listening as well!!
Your job is being consistent with your message!
- How do you want to impact, inspire, and transform your audience?
- How can they see themselves in your story ?
- And are you educating your audience about how they can solve their problems ?
So this weekend I was planning my content, and this is the first time in a long time I got stuck on what I wanted to communicate. I had to take a second and go re-read my personal brand mission statement.
A personal brand mission statement is a statement that you make on how you personally want to impact your audience. Similar to a business mission statement. Your personal statement focused on ” HOW” you want to go about making your “VISION” happen .
Here’s how I got mine
- What do you want to do ? If you looked at it from a job perspective, what career would it be ? What does that job function involve, and in that career who are they helping and how are they doing it .
This is great starting place because after wards you can start laying out what age, sex, region, or demographic you want or feel called to help.
Secondly , why did YOU feel like you’re personally called to do this vocation , career, or take on the task of being a business owner?
This is critical because it’s your connection point with your audience! They need to see ” if it happened for you , it can happen for them”!
They need to see themselves in your story
Think about one of your favorite movies . Why did you or didn’t you like or love the main characters?
Because you either related or you didn’t.
You saw their viewpoint or you didn’t.
That’s what your audience wants from you. They want to get rid of the problem , find peace or clarity and move forward.
- Write down your personal reasons ! Why are you a coach or consultant? Why would you like to be one?
- What is it about the job you loved?
Besides the money, it has to be more to it .
- Who inspired you? Where did you make a misstep , and learned a lesson in it? How have you changed in the process? Sharing it helps your audience trust you and trust the process with you
Lastly:Education …
I know . We live in a digital world where we feel like education doesn’t matter because we can find it online.
Where are they getting the content from online? Either an expert like you or someone who isn’t qualified…* insert eyeball stare* Is posting it ..where? ONLINE!!
That’s another reason why you have to SOUND OFF!!
As most experts, leaders and personal brands, visionaries are what… educated in what they do .
So you have to share your knowledge, application, strategies , and strengths with your audience.
Remember they are seeing and searching for you! But if you’re not showing up , making content that educates how will they ever find you ?
So here’s my 3rd tip
- Make content that educates !
People are passing the fluff!! They want meat , wine and dessert!!
So feed the babies. Make a list of 10-20 things ( focused on 3-5 if you don’t want to overwhelm yourself) on the major areas you are great at solving AND your audience is struggling with.
That way you are happy talking , sharing and posting. And they are happy reading , engaging, sharing and purchasing from you … win win win all around the board !!
So remember when I said I was panicking?!
It’s because I was rushing and trying to get everything out in one session
Listen .
I know social media looks fabulous, but remember many brands and creatives are curating and planning beautiful content all day long . It’s supposed to look amazing. That was me also talking to myself… lol
We all can’t learn everything in one day or one session.
Remember !!
What you have to say is valuable , it’s worth it and takes your time, so take your time and use it wisely . Plan your content out , that way when you show up…
You look amazing , you feel amazing , and you’re ready to show up!!
Glamorously of course !
Remember they have showed up to your page
They are listening to you
And most importantly don’t lose your confidence trying to keep up and say things just to be liked in these internet streets .
Trust me your audience will like you for you .
Remember it’s no overnight success, everything worth having takes time .
And if you’re in the rebranding process or you’re just launching out.
It takes time !!!
Use your time wisely and sound the fuck off sis.
BTW, you also want to reuse your content again , if you’re panicking and rushing getting dressed the pictures won’t come out right!
Take your time, find your angles , and talk your talk of expertise!!
The world needs you!
As always stay focused and fabulous on these internet streets
